What is the activation code for?

You will use the activation code to log in to MyChart for the first time. You will then be asked to create your own unique MyChart ID and password. After that, you will not need the activation code to log in.

My activation code does not work. What should I do?

For your security, your activation code expires after 60 days and is no longer valid after you use it the first time. If you are having problems using the activation code, email us at mychart@kumc.edu or call 913-588-4040.

What if I do not have an activation code, lost my code or allowed my code to expire?

You can sign up without an access code at mychart.kumed.com. Look for the Sign Up Now button. If you prefer to use an access code, contact us at mychart@kumc.edu or call 913-588-4040. After we verify your information, we will send a new code via U.S. mail. Privacy concerns prevent us from emailing a new activation code to you.

When will I see my test results in MyChart?

Your test results are released to your MyChart account after your doctor has reviewed them, generally within 3-4 business days.

Why am I unable to see all my test results in MyChart?

Some tests are very sensitive, and your physician may want to discuss results with you or request follow-up tests before publishing information in MyChart.

If some of my health information in MyChart is not correct, what should I do?

Your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record completed by your healthcare provider. You may ask your provider about this information at your next visit.

Can I share access to my MyChart record with someone else?

Yes, as long as you are age 18 or older and legally competent. To give another person access to your MyChart record, ask for a MyChart Proxy Access Form at your next clinic visit.

Can my spouse and I share one MyChart account?

Due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must have an individual MyChart account.

How can I access my child's records in Mychart?

As a parent or guardian of a child under age, 18, you may request proxy access to your child's records. You must complete and return a MyChart Proxy Access Form and receive a special access code to sign up as a proxy.

  • Up to age 14: Parents and guardians can see their child's full MyChart record as a proxy.
  • At age 14: Proxy access continues, but parts of the record are no longer visible to the parent or guardian. Once your child turns 14, you will no longer be able to access test results, medications, health issues or past appointments. You will still be able to access immunization and allergy information and certain other features as they become available.
  • At age 18: Proxy access ends. Parents and guardians can see the full MyChart record only if the 18-year-old actively requests proxy access for them.

Why does my child's record look different when my child turns 14?

While your child’s medical record will always be available to you from your physician’s office, some parts of the MyChart account will become unavailable after your child turns 14. This is done to protect the patient/physician relationship. Once your child turns 14, you will no longer be able to access test results, medications, health issues or past appointments. You will still be able to access immunization and allergy information and certain other features as they become available via MyChart. For further information, please contact MyChart Support at 913-588-4040.
